Happy Halloween 2012!!!

Happy Halloween!

Today is the day that I promised my Superwoman outfit!  Let me tell you how I got the idea:

Earlier this year, I got hooked on a web series called The Misadventures of AWKWARD Black Girl.  The show is about a girl name J and the awkward situations she goes through at work and in her love life.  The first season focused on two guys that she was interested in, a co-worker and a friend of the co-worker, and the choice she had to make.

She eventually chose one of them and the storyline continued in Season 2.   The story is narrated by J, so we get to know how she feels with some explicit language and funny one-liners that some people think but never say out loud.

The first season had already started and the first episode I got to see was episode #10.1: "The Unexpected."  It was their Halloween special and J's co-worker, Nina, was in charge of the office.  Brian and I were confused about what the story was about so we paused it and spend the day catching up.  Hours later, we unpaused it and understood why Nina being in charge was freakin' scary.

Anyway, since this was a Halloween episode, J and her co-workers dressed in costume.  That's when I got to see her crush, Fred:

His simple yet awesome costume inspired me to be superwoman today!

Pretty Little Blogger Series: Costumes for Pets

*Disclaimer*
Botanical Reflections 2.0 believes that safety is the number one key with having a pet.  Before dressing them in a costume, avoid costumes that cover the face, have loose pieces or contain pieces that are toxic to your pet.  Also, some pets prefer not to dress up.  You can get the pet accustomed to the costume and give them praise or treats a couple of days before Halloween but sometimes that will not work.  Do not put your pet under stress to dress him up just for a couple hours. Also, keep candy and decorations out the reach of your pet!  Your pet will thank you!

Welcome to part two of my Pretty Little Blogger Series for Halloween.  Halloween is just around the corner.  Yesterday, I covered costumes in the work place but what about our pets?  I've seen costumes all around Pets stores and online, but what about birds?  I know Mr. Tibbs will NEVER wear one, but I can always wish.  Costumes for birds can range from a harness type attire or a little hat.  Here are some costumes I found of birds in costume:

I researched a little more and found a store that specializes in avian attire called FlightQuarters!  FlightQuarters created bird attire called flightsuits:
"FlightSuits are cleverly disguised, soft, stretchy, reusable pet bird diapers. They allow your feathered friends out of their cages both in and out of the house; worry-free from embarrassing accidents (poop) or dangerous fly-aways. Easy to put on and take off with Velcro fasteners; great for travel! The patented "poop-pouch" safely keeps droppings away from birds and you."
You can find more information about their suits here and shop for their costumes here.

And if all fails, your birdie can always be a parrot:

Pretty Little Blogger Series: Halloween for Professionals

This month begins the first Pretty Little Blogger series!  This month's theme:

As you already know, I'm not really big on celebrating Halloween, but I do love to dress up.  Being in the professional setting, dressing up for Halloween depends on the dress code for the firm.  From Monday - Friday, my firm requires us to be in business casual attire while on Fridays, we dress in casual attire.  Since Halloween has never fallen on a Friday since I've worked with my firm, I usually add an accessory or two to my work attire.  If I have a meeting that day, I can easily remove it and create less distraction to myself.  Last year, I dressed as Princess Peach.

This year, I decided to be SuperWoman:

To achieve this look, I will combine the following:

No contacts for me that day.

This will be half way buttoned.

This shirt will be underneath my white blouse.

Depending on the weather, I will either wear my pencil skirt or slacks.

I will show you all the results next week!  Check out the other blogs from PLB and see what they are doing for Halloween!

Happy Halloween

Happy Monday!

I'm not a big fan of Halloween but I love to dress up!  As a newlywed, I decided to go to work as Princess Peach.  Since my husband loves videogames, I though it would be a great fit.

I wasn't going to pay $50 and wear this big poofy pink dress to the office, so I decided to adapt the costume a bit with my work clothes:
-Reuse the crown from my bridal shower
-Wear my black and pink Princess Peach shirt I got as a gift
-Wear the matching black gloves
With these new changes, I became "knockoff Princess Peach who got rescued by Mario and realized that she had to go back to work."

My co-workers decided to take a picture, lol.
