New edition to the family

After the incident that happened during Christmas Day at my Mom's house, she decided to get another bird.  At first she was against it, but Sky was not acting like her normal self.  She is usually quiet but since Angel's death, she has been very loud.  With my friend's recommendation, my Mom brought a new parakeet on Monday.

Meet Tweety!

Apparently, Sky would not let him move and was beside him at all times.  So far they have been getting along!  We won't know the gender till "it" is around a year old...but we might know sooner if we see eggs.  I can't wait to see him in person during my next visit.

Who else but Mr. Tibbs!

Remember the Christmas miracle with Mr. Tibbs and Brian?  Well I am sad to say that it only lasted for 6 days.

Last night, I started my freelance project with two co-workers of mine.  It's my first time using my new desktop for work use and it felt pretty good.  It was really boring in the other room, so I had Brian and Mr. Tibbs to entertain me.  Mr. Tibbs wasn't use to me being in the other room, so I put him on my shoulder and he watched me work with a little bit of music in the background.  I was kinda nervous at first to do that, but then I remembered that his previous owner said that was his favorite thing to do.  Brian on the other hand, came in the room and did his silly dance routines to EVERY song that came on.  I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

A couple hours had passed and Mr. Tibbs moved from my shoulder to the desk. Ringing his favorite bell, he had gotten comfortable with his new "play area."  The only problem I had with him being on the desk was that his tail kept on getting in the way of the keyboard.  If I moved him, he either moved out my way or tried to bite me.  Other times, he tried to test his boundaries and jump on the keyboard.  After getting fussed out a couple of times, he knew that was off limits.

I don't know why, but he loves keyboards.  Here he is on my laptop:

Then, the phone had rung.  Still not comfortable with him being in the other room, I asked Brian to watch Mr. Tibbs while I answered the phone.  That was the worst mistake I made that night:

In my bedroom:
::Answers phone in bed room::
Me: Hi Mommy (continues conversation)

In the other room:
::Mr. Tibbs hops on the keyboard and starts walking::
Brian: TIBBY! What are you doing?!
Tibby: Tweeeeeeeet! ::Flies around the room and lands on the keyboard::
Brian: Get off that keyboard Tibby!
Tibby: ::Flies in a wedding gift bag and climbs out.::

To my surprise, I found Mr. Tibbs balancing on the edge of a gift bag.  I grabbed him and put him on my shoulder while I was on the phone.  You would think Mr. Tibbs terrorizes Brian all the time, but he only does sneaky stuff like this when I am home.  When they are alone during the day, Mr. Tibbs doesn't bother him at all.  I guess Mr. Tibbs likes competing for my love, lol.
Throughout all the crazy stuff Brian and Mr. Tibbs did, Mr. Tibbs did enjoy himself.  A few moments after Mr. Tibbs went back to his cage, I heard him whistling non-stop.

Christmas Weekend Recap

This holiday weekend has had its ups and downs!

Good News:
Friday, I had my first Christmas miracle...Brian and Mr. Tibbs were getting along!  It started when Brian was on Youtube looking up video game videos.  While Brian was preoccupied, Mr. Tibbs got interested in the videos.  That's when I convinced Brian to play some of Mr. Tibbs favorite videos:

Then I put my arm out and Mr. Tibbs climbed on Brian's shoulder:

Shocking right?

Bad News:
This Christmas was our first Christmas as a married couple.  It was a great feeling.  Even though money was tight this holiday, I did manage to give Brian a DS game and a matching key chain :-).

After church, I got a shocking phone call...one of my Mom's parakeet got a head injury.

Side Story:
For my Mom birthday in 2006, my step dad brought her two parakeets, Sky and Angel.  Sky, the girl on the right, is very quiet.  Angel, the boy on the left, is very aggressive and loved to tweet.  Before I graduated college, I trained Sky to play outside the cage.

Since Angel was very aggressive, I never played with him.  The only person that he loved was my Mom.  Every time he saw my Mom, he would get on his ladder by the kitchen door and tweet till she left the room.  If I came in the room, he would stop tweeting till I left.  Through out the 5 years my Mom owned them, we always assumed that Sky and Angel were brother and sister because they were always fighting.  Angel would kick Sky with his foot and she would fall off the perch or swing.  Angel also got overprotective when Sky met Mr. Tibbs for the first time.

Well Sunday afternoon, Sky finally had enough.  Sky pecked Angel deep enough where he bled.  Discovered by my nephew, my Mom panicked and called me for help.  After googling for 30mins, we found out that if you apply pressure for 3-5 minutes, it should help.  He finally stopped but it reappeared before my Mom covered him up for bed.  Angel didn't survive the night.

My family is taking it pretty hard.  My Mom is even thinking about buying a new cage for Sky to help her grieve over Angel.  I hope that my Mom will be okay.

Post on a Saturday?

I know it's shocking to see a post on a Saturday.  Well there's a good...no, great reason.  For an early Christmas present, my in-laws brought my husband and I a desktop computer!  I am so thankful!  Brian and I currently have old laptops; his is only 3 years old and always gets a virus and mines is 6 years old that runs really slow and gets the occasional BSOD.

So this morning, Brian and I put together our new computer.

This computer runs really fast!  Right now, I'm downloading all my Architecture programs and hopefully, I will be done before the end of the night.  While Brian and I were preoccupied, Mr. Tibbs had a couple of crazy and cute moments today...

His "I'm sorry Mommy"moment after he got an attitude with me and put his wings up in my face.  After flying around the room, he fell to the ground because he lost his flight feathers last weekend. Excuse my crazy face.
And here he is drying off with the blow dryer after taking a bath.

I have been successful...

...In buying my husband's Christmas gift!  Because we were saving for the wedding for two years and other issues, Brian decided to take a break from buying video games.  He is an extreme gamer and I felt kinda bad that he can't continue his collection at the moment.  So, I had to trick him to see what he needed.
  1. First, I had to act like I wasn't interest in video games.
  2. Next, I asked what his favorite games were when he talked about a game.  I had a feeling he would give his parents this list, so I had to see what his priority was and get more info.
  3. Finally, I checked when the last time he brought a game.  He told me 2008 and also told me the games he got as a gift in 2010.  That allowed me to research the games that released between 2009 - 2011 from the list of games he gave me.  I couldn't go in the room to check, then that would have been too suspicious.
I did all this in 6 months so it wouldn't be obvious.  I'm not going to tell the gift just in case he clicks the History button on his computer to find my blog.  But it's what he always wanted plus an accessory to match the first gift.

18 days till Christmas Day!

Photo albums

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Work has slowed down yet again, so yesterday and today, I had the opportunity to finish the photobooks for my parents; my in-laws; my grandparents; and my aunt in-law, who was our wedding planner.  When I started in August, everything seemed to get in the way, so Brian and I decided to give them the books during Christmas...or close to it.

We are using Mixbook to design our albums and from Monday till Wednesday, they have a 50% off special for everything if you use the code CYBERSALE11.

Hopefully, our family will love them! :-)
